Every year the Chilsimni festival takes place at the beginning of October. In Seogwipo it takes place in the harbour. There are many stalls and tents exhibiting local arts and crafts, traditional costumes, games and food. Chilsimni refers to the distance between the ancient capital and Seogwipo and this route which was often the one taken to import and export goods that arrived at Seogwipo.
